About the Club

The Napa Valley Fly Fishermen were formed in 1970 by a group of local fishermen who were interested in promoting the art of angling with an artificial fly, passing on knowledge of this art to fellow anglers and conserving and enhancing the quality of our California Fisheries. In 2007, under the leadership of Michael McKeown, the name was changed to Napa Valley Fly Fishers and the club began promoting itself as family oriented.

We have accomplished this by having regular scheduled activities such as:
Monthly meetings featuring:
• Guest speakers
• Slide and film presentations
• Technical seminars on equipment, lines, leaders, knots, and techniques
• Formal fly casting and fly tying classes annually with additional instruction prior to the regular meetings.

Other activities include classes in rod building, streamside entomology and outdoor photography.

The Napa Valley Fly Fishermen also have club outings throughout the year and hold an annual fund raising dinner and outdoor equipment raffle. This money is used throughout the year to sponsor conservation oriented projects, teach fly casting and fly tying, youth programs and other activities directed to the promulgation of fly angling.

A newsletter is sent monthly to each member describing the upcoming meeting, program, and lists fishing reports, tips, stories and other information.

The Napa Valley Fly Fishers meet at 7:00 p.m. on the second Thursday of the month at 1518 Jefferson Street at the Senior Center. This is the house in front of the Bocce Ball Courts.
