Double Foot Rod Wrapping Technique in Pictures
By Michael McKeown
Begin wrap using pieces of tape to hold
thread in positions.
Wrap nearly to guide foot. Pull under-
wrapped end tight, but restrain it from
unwinding.

Trim end. When using razor blade, hold
flat to wraps. The chamfer of the blade
angle is sufficient clearance from wraps
to avoid cutting wraps.
Add a few wraps to cover end of first cut
thread, then while holding thread tension,
slip a loop of 4 lb. test mono under thread.

Wrap to base of guide foot, cut thread. Hold last wrap in place at center of bottom of rod. Feed tag end of thread into pull through tool. When doing this, do not run thread through fingers as this will put twists in the thread. Instead, grab thread at the very end.

Control loop as it closes so as to not have a twist bind at the end of the pull through. Pull on loose end to straighten line under
wraps. Don't let it unwind from front
edge.

Cut thread as before. Pull tension on thread and slice with blade flat to wraps. Pull on loose end to straighten thread under the wraps. Don't let it unwind from front edge. The tiny cut thread pieces should pop under the wraps. The finished wrap is shown above with the two under-wrapped ends lining up on the bottom of the blank.
